The idea for this album started with the album's last song called "The Final Broadcast". That song was written after and independent radio station went off the air and was replaced with a corporate station. As I was piecing together the songs for the album, The Final Broadcast of the Underground Radio took shape. The album begins with the static intro of a listener dialing in a pirate radio station. This is the final broadcast before the FCC punishes the underground DJ.
As I moved, the songs were recorded in Denver, CO, Mason, OH, and Covington, KY. I played most of the instruments, but got some help. Steve Richardson is the DJ, Aaron Strickland played drums on "Sometimes (you were right)" and "Doin' Fine," and Phil Crocco and Andy Hiler sang background vocals on "Bar Lights."

The five songs on this EP highlight my earliest recordings. They were recorded in my apartment in Denver, CO. Originally, these were part of a batch of songs that appeared on CDRs that were distributed to friends beginning in 2003. I played all of the instruments on this album with additional vocals from Ben Bergstrand and Deb Barrett.
